Why won't Buhari release Nnamdi Kanu
Assistant President Muhammadu Buhari on social media Lauretta Onochie said her principal would not release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu due to the killings of prominent Nigerians and civilians in the South-East region by the Biafran Indigenous Peoples, IPOB.
Onochie blamed the rebel leader for leading to the deaths of many Nigerians including Chike Akunyili, the husband of the former Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, and the late Prof Dora Akunyili.
Onochie was responding to a call from civil society, traditional, ideological and religious leaders for the release of Kanu, who is currently in custody of the Department of State Services, DSS, asking the Buhari government to accept the talks.
Onochie wrote on Facebook, “Nigerians are eagerly awaiting justice. Under President Buhari, a lawyer for the right process, the beast will receive a fair trial, an opportunity that has not given those who ordered his death.
The families of the victims are awaiting the appropriate closure and fairness of their nightmares. ”
Onochie added, “The well-meaning Ndigbo is of the opinion that their leadership, judged them by encouraging one of them who was clearly unhealthy. They did not speak when appropriate. They are still hiding their heads in the sand.
“Asking for his release is spitting on the graves of Dr. Chike Akunyili, Dr. Lawrence Ezenwa, Dr. Ahmed Gulak, the slain kings, students, girlfriends, and ordinary Nigerian Igbo people who lost their lives at the instigation of this madman, not to mention the guards who killed him.
Onochie said that, although Buhari had brought infrastructure development to the South East more than any other government in recent times, they had refused to compromise with his party.
Onochie boasted that the Buhari Government would crush IPOB, adding stupidity would no longer help this time.
