JAMB Cancels National Cut-Off Marks In UTME
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has cancelled the national cut-off marks used as a benchmark for admissions into tertiary institutions across the country, stating that institutions are now at liberty to set their minimum benchmark for admission into their respective programmes.
This resolution was reached at the 2021 policy meeting which was held virtually and chaired by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu.
JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, noted that the cut-off marks proposed by Nigerian universities are not uniform, saying some proposed 140,150,180,190,200,210, etc.
It was gathered that the stakeholders proposed October 29,2021, as the date for the conclusion of the amendments for 2021 admissions.
However, the stakeholders resolved to allowed the ministry of education to decide admission deadline for tertiary institutions across the country.
Latest Development
Following the latest development, institutions across the country can now begin to invite applications for admissions into their respective programmes any time from now.
Also part of the stakeholders resolutions for Direct Entry, DE, candidates for admission is a maximum of 6 points and a minimum of 2 points or E as stipulated by law.
Meanwhile, foreign, visually impaired and prison inmates candidates are exempted from participating in POST-UTME.
