A woman has taken to social media to seek advice after discovering that her live-in housemaid is six months pregnant and increasingly unable to carry out her duties.
According to her, the maid initially denied the pregnancy but later confirmed it when it became too obvious to hide. She explained that the young woman had always been excellent with the children and very efficient around the home, but over the past few weeks, she appears constantly tired, sleeps often, and can no longer perform most of the tasks assigned to her.
The woman said she now finds herself doing almost all the housework, while also caring for her own children — a situation she described as “feeling like I have become the maid.”
Her initial plan was to give the maid her full salary, provide the necessary baby items, add some extra money, and let her return home to prepare for childbirth. But her husband strongly disagreed. He reminded her that the maid had taken very good care of their children and insisted that they show her kindness by allowing her to remain with them, even after the baby is born.
However, the woman is worried about how a new mother with a newborn would handle house chores or child-care duties. She raised the concern with her husband, who responded by suggesting that they hire a second maid. The new maid would assist the pregnant one for a few months until she recovers and stabilizes.
To complicate matters, the man responsible for the pregnancy has reportedly disappeared, leaving the young woman with no support.
The employer is now asking other mothers and employers for guidance on how best to handle the situation, as the arrangement is beginning to overwhelm her.
