A Nigerian commentator, DonAza, has reacted to the ongoing controversy surrounding former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent statement about possible U.S. military action in Nigeria over the continued killings of Christians. According to DonAza, many people are deliberately twisting Trump’s words to cause unnecessary panic and tension. He said Trump never said he was coming to fight Muslims or overthrow the Nigerian government but only spoke against terrorists who have turned large parts of Nigeria into killing fields.
In his words, “Trump’s statement was simple and clear. He only called on Nigeria to act fast against terrorists before they wipe out another community. Anyone interpreting his message otherwise is indirectly supporting the activities of Fulani militias who have brought pain and destruction to many parts of the Middle Belt.”
He further said that Trump’s message was a wake-up call to the Nigerian government, not a threat. “The word if he used means it is conditional. He only said that if Nigeria fails to act, the U.S. might step in. That shows responsibility lies first with our leaders to protect the people,” he explained.

DonAza questioned why those responsible for the mass killings in places like Yelwata, Bokkos, and Taraba have not been arrested or prosecuted. He said the silence and lack of action from authorities show a deep level of unseriousness in dealing with the crisis.
He asked, “Why the outrage? Why the anger toward someone calling out the government’s failure to stop bloodshed? Shouldn’t we all want quick action to protect innocent lives, whether Muslim or Christian?”
DonAza concluded by saying that those defending the killers or twisting Trump’s words are doing so because they have something to hide. “Trump never declared war on Muslims. He spoke against terrorists. That is the truth. The message is simple: move fast, stop the killings, protect Nigerians, and restore the nation’s dignity.”
