The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as the winner of the Anambra State governorship election held yesterday, After We reported Nigerian Government Turned Us To Terrorists — Bandits Say During Fresh 'Peace Deal' In Katsina
According to results announced by the INEC Returning Officer in Awka, Governor Soludo secured the highest number of valid votes, defeating his closest rivals from the Labour Party (LP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The election was described as peaceful in most parts of the state, though reports of late arrival of materials and low voter turnout were recorded in some polling units. Despite these minor challenges, observers praised the process for being generally credible and transparent.
Celebrations erupted across several communities shortly after the announcement. Supporters of APGA flooded the streets of Awka, Onitsha, and Nnewi waving flags and chanting solidarity songs, describing Soludo’s victory as a “renewed mandate for progress.”
In his victory speech, Governor Soludo expressed gratitude to the people of Anambra for their continued trust, promising to accelerate development projects and strengthen security across the state.
“This victory belongs to every Anambra son and daughter. Together, we’ll continue to build the Anambra of our dreams — a land of peace, innovation, and shared prosperity,” Soludo said.
Political analysts say Soludo’s re-election reflects the people’s confidence in his economic and infrastructural reforms, which have focused on road construction, education, and rural development.
Meanwhile, opposition candidates have congratulated the governor while calling on INEC to publish full polling data to ensure transparency.
As things stand, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) retains control of Anambra State, and Soludo now heads into his second term with a promise to consolidate his transformation agenda.
