Miranda, who was an only child raised by a single mother, also became a single mother herself after her first relationship ended when her baby’s father abandoned her during pregnancy. She was left to raise her little daughter alone, but despite the challenges, she remained determined to build a better future.
Her life took a painful turn when she met a man on Facebook who introduced himself as Jude Skalesboy, claiming he was a nurse living in the United Kingdom. After chatting online for six months, Jude promised to visit Miranda’s family and marry her. She told him clearly that she would not have any intimate relationship with him unless he was ready for marriage and had properly completed the traditional marriage rites with her family.
What started as a normal online relationship soon became a shocking reality. Instead of waiting for the three months he had promised, Jude suddenly called Miranda one month later to say he was already in the country. He told her he wanted to surprise her and asked her to meet him at The Royal Palm Hotel.
At first, Miranda was excited, but when she asked if she could come along with her friends, Jude refused, insisting that their first meeting should be private. At the hotel, he tried several times to pressure her into intimacy, but she firmly refused, reminding him of her decision to wait until after marriage.
For three days, Miranda avoided him until he apologised and agreed to meet her family. When he finally visited her relatives, her uncle gave him the list for the traditional marriage. Jude claimed he had only three weeks before returning to his job in the United Kingdom and insisted they rush the wedding.
Within a week, a traditional wedding ceremony was arranged, and Miranda became his wife. That night, they finally consummated their marriage, and Jude promised to begin paperwork immediately to relocate Miranda and her little daughter to the UK.
However, things took a sudden turn. Jude, who was supposed to spend one more week in the country, hurriedly announced that he had to travel back immediately due to an urgent matter. He left without even allowing Miranda to escort him to the airport, saying his flight was too early in the morning.
Just three days later, Miranda began to feel sick. She experienced vomiting and stomach swelling, and although she thought she was pregnant, medical tests showed she was not. Even though she visited different hospitals, doctors said she was healthy. But her strange symptoms persisted, and soon her condition became worse.
At the same time, all of Jude’s social media accounts vanished. His phone lines stopped going through, and the people he had introduced as his family could not be traced either. Despite several efforts, he has never been found to this day.
Miranda’s condition became a mystery as she continued vomiting unusual substances like yoghurt, while her stomach kept swelling. Pastors prayed for her, traditional doctors attempted to help, but nothing worked. Tragically, she died last year, leaving behind her only daughter, who is now four years old.
Her daughter is presently being raised by Miranda’s mother, who is now left to mourn her only child while caring for her grandchild. The family is still searching for answers and justice, but the man known as Jude Skalesboy has disappeared without a trace.
This painful tragedy has left a community in shock, as what was supposed to be a story of love and marriage turned into a devastating tale of deceit and death.
