The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has finally broken his silence over serious allegations claiming he allocated over 3,800 hectares of Abuja land to his sons — a move allegedly worth a shocking $6.45 billion (₦9.5 trillion).
The story, which has been trending heavily on social media, claims that:
🔹 2,082 hectares of land were allocated to one of his sons under the name JOAQ Farms and Estates Limited
🔹 1,740 hectares were given to another son, Jordan
Together, the land is allegedly in high-value areas like Maitama and Asokoro — some of the most expensive and developed parts of Abuja.
But Wike is not having any of it.
Speaking publicly, the FCT Minister described the entire story as “rubbish” and said it was clearly politically motivated.
“First, calculate land in Maitama and Asokoro and tell me where you’d get 2,000 hectares of land. And I know where this is coming from — it’s from Adamawa State. I am aware,” Wike said firmly.
He challenged those spreading the story to present real documents or proof — land titles, official files, or anything solid. He said if they cannot do that, then they are simply trying to drag his name through the mud for political gain.
Wike also made it clear that his children, like every Nigerian, have the right to own land.
“Assuming — though not conceding — my children applied for land, are they not citizens? Are they Ghanaians? Even if they applied, are they not entitled because I’m Minister?” he asked.
The allegation has already sparked heavy debates online. While some people are demanding a full investigation, others say it looks more like a political distraction meant to shake Wike’s image and rising political strength.
🎯 The Big Questions People Are Asking:
▪️ Is it even possible to find 3,822 hectares in Abuja’s prime districts like Maitama or Asokoro?
▪️ Are these just cooked-up numbers to sell a scandal?
▪️ Should public officials’ children be banned from owning land during their parent’s time in office?
▪️ Or is this all political drama ahead of 2027?
