A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ibrahim Masari, has declared that no Nigerian who voted for President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 general elections should have any regrets.
Speaking to BBC on Saturday, Masari praised Tinubu for his “bold and tough decisions” as his administration marks two years in office.
Masari acknowledged that the removal of fuel subsidy has caused hardship for many Nigerians but insisted it was necessary to save Nigeria’s economy.
“Anyone who voted for President Tinubu between himself and God has no regrets,” Masari said. “Past presidents wanted to remove the subsidy but couldn’t. He did it because of how much of the country’s money was being wasted.”
Masari explained that money saved from subsidy removal is now being used to fund important projects that will benefit Nigerians in the long run.
He described the decision as “a necessary sacrifice” to build a stronger and more stable Nigeria.
Nigerians have been grappling with high prices of fuel, transport, and food since the removal of subsidy in 2023. However, the government maintains that the funds are being redirected to key sectors like health, education, and infrastructure.
Masari’s comments come amid growing public debate about the impact of subsidy removal and other economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration.
