A heartbreaking story has come out of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), in Ghana. A young 100-level student, known as Khon Void, has sadly taken his own life after finding out that his girlfriend was cheating on him.
According to reports, the student went to visit his girlfriend at her hostel without telling her ahead of time. But when he got there, he caught her in bed with another male student.
The shock and pain were too much for him. He fainted immediately, and other students rushed to carry him back to his own hostel.
Not long after that, the young man was said to have ended his life by hanging. His death has thrown the entire university community into deep sadness.
A video that is now trending online shows university staff and police officers removing his body from the hostel. This has raised many questions and led to the beginning of a formal investigation.
While many people online are mourning the young man's death, others are saying it could have been avoided. Some users are begging young people to learn how to handle emotional pain without choosing death. They are encouraging everyone - especially students - to talk to someone or seek help when going through tough times.
At the time of this report, the university has not released an official statement. However, the Ghana Police Service has confirmed that they are looking into what really happened.
One user on social media said that the boy had gone to see his girlfriend without informing her. He found her in bed with another guy, fainted, and was later taken back to his room.
Sadly, he could not handle the heartbreak and decided to take his own life. The person added, “It’s sad, but this was not the right way out. May God forgive him.”
Here are some comments from social media:
- @Ademens1 said, “He fool waaa. When I first had my heart broken, I cried for a month straight, but I turned into a monster after that.”
- @nkrumahboateng said, “Just normal cheating. Ah.”
- @wonitwaasedi65 said, “Men like this are fools.”
- @mrwellington said, “I was 6 the last time I cried over a girl. She didn’t want my flower. Then later, they all started giving up their flowers.”
- @IamMajorCEK shared advice: “The best way to handle heartbreak is to stay busy. Wash clothes, clean your room, do your school work. The energy that comes with heartbreak is strong - use it for something useful. You can even sweep the whole of Accra without noticing.”
This incident is a sad reminder that life is not always easy, especially for young people in love. But no matter how bad things seem, suicide is never the answer.
There are always better ways to deal with pain. Please, if you’re reading this and going through something difficult, talk to someone. You’re not alone.
May Khon Void’s soul rest in peace.

Unable to bear the pain, he took the coward lane. Yes. Sad but he’s a coward for this. God forgive us all.
