A very sad incident has happened in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State. A police officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Leramo Caleb, and his wife have both lost their lives in a tragic way. The news of their death has shocked many people, especially those who knew Officer Caleb.
Officer Caleb was well-known around the Court premises at Fajuyi Park area in Ado-Ekiti. He worked as a police prosecutor and was respected for his bravery and dedication. Many people admired how serious he was with his job. Some months ago, he was transferred to Oye-Ekiti due to a police restructuring.
According to reports, there were problems in his marriage. A close friend who is also a prosecutor said Officer Caleb suspected his wife of being unfaithful. He started watching her closely until he caught her with another man.
This made him very angry, and he arrested the man. However, at the police station, his colleagues advised him to settle the matter with his wife instead of focusing on the other man.
Since that incident in January, things became worse between Caleb and his wife. Their home was no longer peaceful. They argued often, and the marriage became very troubled.
Yesterday, things took a deadly turn. It is believed that Caleb's wife may have put something in his food to make him weak. When he became weak, she allegedly cut off his private part. Despite his condition, Caleb managed to gather strength and fought back against his wife.
Sadly, Caleb died from the severe injury and loss of blood. His wife was rushed to ABUAD Teaching Hospital but was also confirmed dead. Both of their bodies have been taken to the mortuary.
This is a very heartbreaking story. It shows how serious marriage problems can become if not handled properly. While divorce may not be supported by some people, leaving a toxic and dangerous marriage is better than losing your life.
Reports also say that this was Officer Caleb's second marriage, which has now ended in a very tragic way. May their souls rest in peace.
