A tragic accident on Lagos' Third Mainland Bridge earlier today left one person dead and five others injured. The crash occurred at Ilubirin, inward Sura, involving a J5 Ford bus and a Mercedes truck.
According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the J5 Ford bus, loaded with pepper and other goods, suffered brake failure while speeding and collided with the truck.
Rescue teams, including LASTMA, LASEMA, FRSC, and the Nigerian Police, quickly arrived at the scene. With the help of bystanders, four victims were pulled from the wreckage. Unfortunately, one person trapped inside the bus died, while three others were rescued alive.
The injured survivors were taken to the General Hospital on Lagos Island for treatment. LASTMA officials later cleared the vehicles and spilled goods to restore the flow of traffic on the bridge.
