Mercy from Oyo State painfully recounted how her husband passed away immediately after being intimate with her, a tragic event linked to his lifelong battle with epilepsy.
Mercy grew up in a poor family and could not complete her primary education. She eventually found work as a househelp in Ibadan. After three years, she met a man who promised to marry her, and they soon tied the knot.
The couple moved to the village, where they worked as casual laborers on nearby farms. Mercy's husband had been living with epilepsy since childhood, a condition that occasionally disrupted their lives.
They were blessed with three children. One day, a local landowner allowed them to cultivate a quarter-acre plot, which brought them hope as the income would help pay for their children’s education.
After a long day of work, the couple returned home, had dinner, and put their children to bed. That night, her husband expressed his desire to be intimate, and Mercy agreed. Afterward, he turned over and fell asleep. Though Mercy found his sudden silence unusual, she assumed he was simply exhausted.
The next morning, Mercy woke up to prepare the children for school, but her husband remained in bed, which was unusual for him. By 8 a.m., he had still not stirred. Alarmed, Mercy tried to wake him, but he was unresponsive.
Panicking, she ran to her mother-in-law’s house for help. Together, they discovered his body was cold, confirming he had passed away during the night.
The matter was reported to the local authorities, and a postmortem revealed he had died due to complications from epilepsy.
Tragically, Mercy’s in-laws turned against her after the burial, accusing her of being responsible for her husband’s death.
