A Nigerian woman, Aisha Abubakar Musa, from Shendam Local Government Area in Plateau State, has shared her experience of leaving her husband and relocating to a church to be with her spiritual leader, a pastor.
Narrating her story to a local media station, TVC News, Aisha revealed that she was introduced to a certain church by her sister-in-law, her husband’s sister. Immediately after joining the church, her life took a drastic turn. Her sister-in-law had assured her that becoming a member of the church would guarantee her success in life.
Aisha further explained that during prayers, the pastor would hold her hand as they prayed together. He would ask for the names of people she interacted with and later told her that someone had stolen her "destiny" and that she needed deliverance. She was asked to pay for the deliverance services. At the time, her firstborn son desperately needed breast milk, but she couldn’t breastfeed him due to a lack of milk in her breasts.
As she became more deeply involved in church activities and placed her trust in the pastor, her situation worsened. Her business began to crumble, leaving her in financial distress. During this period, her father and husband advised her to stop attending the church, but she ignored their concerns, claiming she was already "brainwashed."
After several heated disagreements with her husband, Aisha decided to leave him for the pastor, believing that her husband was an obstacle to her spiritual breakthrough. She even labeled him an "agent of darkness." However, over time, she came to the painful realization that she was losing everything. Eventually, she was forced to leave the church, but by then, her marriage, friendships, and family ties had all been destroyed.
