One time, I used my wife's photo as my WhatsApp profile picture. It’s a little trick I use whenever she's upset with me and I want to bribe her. It works every time.
On this particular occasion, she was upset with me, so I quickly changed my DP to her photo and added the most romantic caption. As soon as she saw it, she smiled. Then I asked her to accompany me to the mall close to our house so I could get her favorite snacks and drinks—adding to the bribe.
On our way back, we stumbled upon a dry-cleaning and laundry shop confidently tucked behind our flat. It soon became our go-to spot for washing and starching my office clothes. During one visit, we realized we didn’t have physical cash, and the network was sluggish. Since the owner had become familiar with us (because we always went there together), my wife collected his number and assured him she’d send the money along with the receipt.
That day, she was with my phone, so she saved his number there. When we got home, I messaged him and sent the receipt after completing the transfer. Later that night, he responded with a thank-you emoji and, surprisingly, a kissing emoji. I smiled and showed my wife.
Then, he asked if I was home. I said yes. He asked if I was alone. Again, I said yes. He asked if I had eaten, but I ignored him. Around 11 p.m., he messaged me again and asked if he could video call me. Curious, I asked why. He said he just wanted to see my face before he slept. Amused, I agreed and told him he could call.
When he called, I picked up. He was lying on the bed shirtless. Coincidentally, I was also on the bed shirtless. As soon as he saw me, he shouted, "Jesus!" and immediately hung up. My wife and I had a good laugh about it. I tried calling him back, but he ignored my calls and eventually switched off his phone.
The next day, I went to his shop with more clothes and asked after him. The guy working there said he had traveled. It’s been two weeks now, and he still hasn’t come back.
Me? I’m still waiting for the video call, sha. In the meantime, I continue taking my clothes to the shop because they provide excellent laundry service and wash my clothes very well. Tonight, though, I think I’ll call him on video again—and this time, I’ll be naked.
