A Nigerian woman, Joyce Ifunanyachukwu, has passed away after battling kidney failure, despite receiving generous donations from well-meaning individuals for her treatment.
Joyce’s kidney complications reportedly began during her pregnancy, and she needed ₦36 million for treatment. Concerned Nigerians came together in September to raise the required funds for her medical care.
However, Serah Ibrahim, an advocate who helped organize the fundraising, shared the heartbreaking news of Joyce’s death on social media.
According to Serah, after the funds were transferred, Joyce’s husband allegedly withdrew her from the hospital and sought spiritual intervention at a church instead of continuing her treatment.
Serah further accused the husband of pocketing the donated money and failing to use it for Joyce’s care. She has vowed to take legal action against him, claiming his negligence contributed to Joyce’s death.
This tragic incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many calling for justice for Joyce.
