Known for his unconventional and often dramatic approach to performing miracles, Odumeje claimed during a service that the platform could no longer tolerate his style.
Speaking to his congregation, Odumeje explained that his "miracles" had led TikTok to deem his content unacceptable. According to the Vanguard report, he expressed frustration with critics who don’t believe in his miracles, suggesting they may have contributed to the account ban.
Odumeje has attracted both admiration and skepticism. While some praise him as a powerful spiritual leader, others question his methods, calling them staged or even misleading. Despite the critiques, he maintains his miracles are genuine and life-changing.
The TikTok ban has sparked discussions about the platform’s content guidelines, especially regarding what’s considered “dangerous” or harmful. Many have pointed out that while TikTok prohibits certain content, its enforcement policies can sometimes seem inconsistent.
In a separate incident last year, the Anambra State government demolished part of Odumeje's church, the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, in Onitsha.
The government claimed that the church, along with several other buildings, was illegally built on waterways, leading to the partial demolition in July 2022.
