Veteran Nollywood actor, Stephen Alajemba, popularly known as Uwaezuoke, has made controversial statements about marriage, stating that it is sinful for a man to have fewer than three wives during a recent interview, as reported by DAILY POST.
Uwaezuoke argued that having only one or two wives could be dangerous for men and stated that with one wife, a man risks being poisoned and explained that with two wives, they might join forces against the husband.
The actor suggested that having three or more wives creates balance in a household, according to him, each wife would focus on her responsibilities, avoiding conflict and claimed this arrangement allows a man to manage his family better.
The comments have brought debates online, many people supported his perspective, saying it reflects traditional values.
Uwaezuoke is well-known for his roles in Nollywood movies, over the years, he has gained fame for his comedic characters, his views on polygamy, however, have drawn mixed reactions from fans and critics alike.
“It’s a sin to marry one or two wives. But if you marry three or four, you will be free from sin. If you marry one wife your life is at risk. The safety of the director is in the hands of the security. If you marry two wives, they will conspire to poison you."
“But if you marry three or more wives, they will all be on their own and you will only be providing for them. You will be taking turns with their meals and bedrooms,” he said.
