A woman in Thailand has lived with severe pain for nearly 18 years, only to discover that a needle was left in her body during childbirth.
The woman, now 36, from Narathiwat province, recalls that a nurse accidentally dropped a needle inside her while stitching her up after she gave birth.

When the doctor couldn't retrieve it manually, they decided to continue with the procedure to avoid more blood loss.
Over the years, she felt constant pain in her lower abdomen, but it took almost two decades to find the cause.
Last year, an X-ray finally showed that the needle was still lodged inside her. Doctors planned surgery to remove it, but the procedure has been delayed multiple times because the needle keeps moving.
She now visits the hospital regularly, around four times a month, which has added financial strain to her family.
The Pavena Foundation for Children and Women has stepped in to help with her treatment, coordinating with local social services to assist with transportation and other needs.
The foundation is working to ensure she gets the medical care she needs, though it remains unclear when the surgery will happen.
