In a post on his Instagram story, Don Jazzy shared his thoughts, saying, “DNA test is more important than naming ceremony.” His statement has sparked many conversations among Nigerians, especially on social media, where users expressed their views on the topic.
Social Media Reactions
Many people reacted to Don Jazzy’s statement, showing their agreement. Here are a few responses:
- Ms Benny: “I totally agree.”
- Isio Joseph: “I agree.”
- Sir Cashii: “I swear.”
- Real Joyces: “Facts.”
- Th.eyez: “I agree.”
- Sheun Nakamura: “Of course. No need to celebrate in vain.”

More Celebrities Speaking Out on DNA Testing
Don Jazzy isn’t alone in his thoughts. In May, Nigerian media personality Do2dtun also urged people to consider DNA testing immediately after a child is born. Do2dtun suggested that just like the usual health checkups for newborns, DNA tests should also be routine.
According to him, this would prevent potential issues of trust later on, as some people find out much later in life that a child they thought was theirs is not biologically related.
Actor Rotimi Salami has also voiced strong opinions on this topic. He believes that discovering a child you raised isn’t yours can be deeply painful, similar to the trauma of other difficult life experiences.
Because of this, Rotimi advocates that paternity fraud – when a person knowingly deceives someone about the parentage of a child – should be taken seriously and even treated as a crime, similar to how society treats other major offenses.
A Different Viewpoint on DNA Testing
However, not all celebrities agree. Veteran actor and filmmaker Ugezu J. Ugezu holds a different opinion.
He argues against DNA testing, believing that it often causes more harm than good. Ugezu feels that paternity tests are causing families to break apart and children to experience emotional pain.
In his view, if a child is born to an African man, that child should be accepted as part of his family, regardless of biology. Ugezu worries that the focus on DNA is damaging family bonds and creating division.
The Ongoing Debate
This debate highlights different views on family, trust, and responsibility. While some see DNA testing as a way to confirm relationships and prevent possible heartbreak, others feel it threatens family unity. As more voices join the conversation, it’s clear that attitudes toward DNA testing are changing, but it remains a complex issue that impacts people in different ways.
