HRM King Apostle Chibuzor, the General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), was moved to tears as he witnessed the distress of 650 students under OPM's scholarship program protesting the Federal Government's recent decision to declare all universities in Benin Republic as "fake."
This decision has affected numerous students, many of whom are orphans or from disadvantaged backgrounds, with some already in their final year of studies at ESM University, Benin Republic.
King Apostle Chibuzor expressed his deep sorrow, recounting how he had initially sought confirmation from the Federal Ministry of Education regarding the legitimacy of ESM University.
The Ministry had assured him that the university was recognized and that its students would be eligible for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Trusting this information, he proceeded to fund the education of these students through the tithes and offerings from OPM, only to now face the possibility of their efforts and resources going to waste due to the new policy.
In his emotional statement, King Apostle Chibuzor emphasized his dedication to supporting the poor, driven by his own experiences of not being able to attend university due to poverty.
Over the years, he has used church funds to establish 35 free schools and provide university scholarships to thousands of less-privileged children, regardless of their religious background.
The situation has left many students and their families in despair, as they face the daunting prospect of starting their education over again. King Apostle Chibuzor remains hopeful that God will not allow their efforts and investments to be in vain, and he continues to seek ways to support these students in their time of need.
