PRUDENTJ2 reported that Veteran Nollywood star Kanayo O. Kanayo, who recently celebrated his son Clinton Mbaise’s entry into the filmmaking world, opted to respect African customs. He accepted his initial earnings from his on-set work and bestowed his fatherly blessings on him.
A Facebook User by Arinze Agu disagreed with Kanayo O. Kanayo with his valid reasons and made great biblical references. Proverbs 3:9 - "Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase."
If our generation doesn't go back to reading and teaching the scriptures to gain understanding, soon we will be overtaken by lies and high sounding nonsense. A veteran actor came up and said, "Don't give your first salary to your pastor but to your father for blessing" and as always sentimental Nigerians, lacking understanding of scriptures are all cheering him and his comment.
Truth be told, the Bible never said "bring your first salary to Your pastor" but to Honour the Lord with your substance and with the first fruits of all thine increase (Prov. 3:9). It is to bring my substance (First fruit, first salary, increase e.t.c ) as Honour to the Lord...Not to your pastor pls.
This narrative must stop.. and Yes! The pastor is the one at the altar, if you give to the Lord, he partakes of the altar as one who serves the Lord.. Yours is to come with the mindset that you are giving to the Lord.
There is a place of receiving blessings from our parents by giving back to them, (very very important) but I ask, one who hasn't honoured God with his substance, will he Honour his parents with the same..?
Every Man bows to something... If a man is not bowing (giving) to God he is bowing and giving to a god... My generation! Go back and read your Bibles.
The Frontline Church on Sunday 12th May with a topic BUILDING THE CULTURE OF GIVING (PT 2- Cont'd) gives more illustration on the same matter.
Matt 6:21 - When a man truly encounters Christ spiritually, natural things lose value. TITHING; Gen 14:20, Matt 23:23, Deu 14:22, Tithe is Giving. In the New testament we give to God beyond the 10%. Tithe is our way of Honoring God. Love gives more than the Law demands. You sponsor the work of your father every time you give.
FIRST FRUIT; First fruit is not only what you do in January. It is a principle. Every increase you have within the year, the increase belongs to God. You don't use your tithe or firstfruit to do philanthropy because God tells you where to give it.
It's a privilege to give to a God who needs nothing. Neh 10:, Pro 3:9, Eze 48:14, Rom 11:16, 1 Cor 16:20, Rom 16:5. Jesus is first fruit but we keep honoring Him in all of our increase. 1 Cor 16:15. God is not a wicked God that will punish you if you don't give to him.
KINGDOM DEMAND OFFERING; It's a thing of pride that we meet needs on the house of God. Exo 25:1-8. The devil will never ask you to give. Zach :17. God raises you, saves you so that when there are needs in his house, we meet it. 1 Cor 16:1-6.
PROPHET OFFERING; 1 Sam 9;7, Philippians 4:10.
But Another Facebook User also narrated how she gave her NYSC Allawee to her Parent.
She said, “Give Your First Fruit to Your Parents Not Your Pastor. So I’ve been saving my NYSC Allawee for my Parent... My Dad doesn’t accept money from me in the name of “you’re not working yet”.
So I used my first three months Allawee to make him some nice Senator dresses😎. He came back I gifted him the outfits yesterday. This man was so happy. He blessed me and told me you’re gradually showing me who you’re.
I was just blushing. Am very happy that I could put a smile on my Dad’s face 🥺. That man is my Hero... My Mom won’t take this likely o🤣. I don share the Allawee for the three of us maka that woman Na war... she won’t fail to remind me how she suffered to birth twins and her husband is eating the fruits before her🤣🤣🤣. She is my heroine 🥰. Her own package is coming 😆. Show your parents love. No matter how little. Tomorrow isn’t promised 😔. Shalom.
Now the question is, As A Dedicated Child Of God, Who Should Have Your First Salary? PASTOR OR YOUR FATHER?
