The Private School Proprietors Association of Nigeria has announced its decision not to participate in the ongoing nationwide strike led by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).
Hajiya Maryam Magaji, the deputy chairman of the association, emphasized their stance in an interview with newsmen.
Magaji clarified that the decision stems from the fact that the parents of the students enrolled in their schools have fulfilled financial obligations by paying the required school fees.
She highlighted that after discussions with Labour leaders, there was a mutual understanding regarding the reasons for the strike, but the private school sector sees no necessity to halt its operations.
Encouraging private schools to maintain their regular activities, Magaji expressed confidence in the commitment of parents to meeting their financial responsibilities, ensuring the continuity of education for the students.
The association’s decision reflects a distinct position in response to the nationwide strike, emphasizing the unique dynamics of the private education sector in Nigeria.
