In a tragic incident, an Israeli strike hit a United Nations school in Gaza, leading to the loss of at least 15 lives. The Health Ministry in Gaza, which is under the control of Hamas, reported the casualties.
The conflict has forced approximately 1.4 million residents out of their homes in the past four weeks. Many have sought shelter in schools and hospitals, leading to overcrowded conditions.
The Health Ministry further revealed that since Israel initiated its offensive on October 7, at least 9,488 individuals in Gaza have lost their lives, with a majority of them being civilians.
This Israeli strike was reportedly a response to attacks by Hamas militants on Israel the same day, resulting in approximately 1,400 casualties, primarily among civilians, according to Israeli authorities, who have vowed to eliminate Hamas.
The Ministry's spokesperson, Ashraf al-Qudra, stated during a press conference, "The massacre at the Al-Fakhura school committed by the occupation (Israel) this morning left 15 martyrs and 70 wounded."
The United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees confirmed that its school was being used as a shelter for displaced families. They reported that one strike hit the schoolyard, where tents were set up for displaced families, and another strike hit inside the school, where women were baking bread.
Additionally, Nigerian Muslim scholars gathered in Kaduna to denounce the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. They emphasized that the root causes of the war were not related to religious issues and presented historical context regarding the occupation of Gaza and the West Bank.
