In a recent interview with Vanguard, Mr. Otabor expressed his confusion and sadness over the fact that he has not had the chance to see his daughter or even receive a response to his calls following her triumph on the reality show.
Mr. Otabor, who has a long-standing career as a hearse driver, fondly recalled the promises Phyna had made to him after her win. She had encouraged him to sell his old cars, assuring him that she would drastically improve his life.
Regrettably, when he followed her advice and sold his cars as scrap, using the proceeds to renovate his home, it marked the beginning of a series of financial hardships for Mr. Otabor.
With no vehicles at his disposal, his professional life as a hearse driver was severely impacted, making it increasingly challenging for him to support himself.
In his plea for assistance, Mr. Otabor revealed that he is actively seeking someone who can provide him with a car through a hire purchase arrangement.
Felix Otabor conveyed his strong desire not to suffer silently and emphasized the difficulties he has encountered since acting upon his daughter's advice to sell his cars. He shared, "I haven't had the opportunity to see my daughter, Phyna, since she emerged victorious in the BBNaija 'Level Up' edition last year. She hasn't returned home since then, and I don't understand why."
He continued, "I am a dedicated hearse driver, and when she won the reality TV show, she encouraged me to part ways with my old cars, promising to change my life. However, I haven't seen her since then, and I am without a car now. Occasionally, the Vice-Chairman of our association lends me his car."
"I sold all four of my cars because, at that time, my daughter had won the show. I thought that God had finally answered our prayers.
I contacted her on the phone, and she told me that God had blessed us. She insisted that I should get rid of my old cars, or she would give them away to strangers when she returned."
"So, instead of letting her give away my cars to strangers, I decided to sell them as scrap and use the proceeds to renovate my house. Unfortunately, this marked the start of my difficulties.
I had to stop working as a hearse driver because I had no car. My neighbors started to think that I was either being miserly or pretending, as if my daughter hadn't just won a grand prize of N100 million."
"I held the position of Vice-Chairman in our association, but when I couldn't show up at our station for some time, they replaced me with someone else.
From that point onwards, life became increasingly challenging for me. I am currently in search of someone who can provide me with a car through a hire purchase arrangement.
I am in dire need of help, and it has reached a critical point. I don't want to suffer in silence any longer."
