How it happened
Sources reveal that the security forces were attempting to intercept the criminals, who were in the process of transporting stolen livestock across the Kundu route. However, the security personnel fell into a meticulously planned ambush, resulting in casualties, which also included five injured vigilantes.
These bandits had previously stolen numerous animals from various communities and were making their way from Akere to the northern regions of the country. Witnesses confirmed that the bodies of the fallen soldiers were taken to Zungeru hospital, the same location where injured vigilantes were being treated.
In a phone interview, Sani Adamu, one of the injured vigilantes, described a fierce exchange of gunfire at close range, revealing that the challenge arose from the sophisticated weaponry employed by the criminals. This unequal contest led to the tragic loss of lives.
