Meanwhile, The Federal Attorney General and the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), said the United States Government and the Nigerian Government were discussing the dismissal of DSP Abba Kyari, the appointed head of the Intelligence Team, over his allegations. the role of the $ 1m scam allegedly perpetrated by international internet fraudster Ramon Abbas, a well-known figure, Hushpuppi and five others. 

In an interview with Channels TV on Monday evening, February 7, Malami said valid reasons for suspicion had been approved against Kyari. 

“An international Actions have already been taken. It is a national and international process and we do everything we can to ensure that justice is done within the context of the law no matter who the victims are. 

When crime is involved, Nigeria and the US naturally work together when there are aspects of crime in different places. Therefore, Nigeria does what is necessary in the form of American support in order to ensure that cases are properly prosecuted within their American context. 

And then finally, if there is a need for local prosecution, there is no obstruction. ”He said Commenting on Kyari's investigation, the AGF said “There are a number of ongoing issues, including the repatriation process. That's when he started working on his team. ”

 Asked if Kyari's repatriation application was made by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, he said;

 “It may be necessary or even possible to make such a request. Personally, the parties are negotiating, the parties are cooperating, there is an exchange of letters from the perspective of the investigation, from the point of view of exports, and other related matters. 

There are good reasons for suspicion and it will ultimately lead to the possibility of prosecution and conviction if the person is indeed a criminal. ” 

The FBI Special Agent, Andrew Innocenti, alleges that Hushpuppi secured Kyari's service contract after "his colleague," Chotso Vincent, threatened to expose $ 1.1m fraud allegations made to a Qatari businessman. Innocenti, who claimed to have received phone calls and WhatsApp conversations between Kyari and Hushpuppi, also alleged that the men paid a police officer N8m or $ 20,600 for Vincent's arrest and detention. 

The U.S. Attorney's Office in the Central District of California ordered the FBI to arrest Kyari about a year ago. Kyari had posted it on Facebook on July 29, 2021, to refute the allegations, but later deleted the post after editing it several times. 

On July 31, 2021, the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, recommended the appointment of Kyari, the Police Service Commission.
