The kidnappers who kidnapped a working councilor along with nine other people demanded payment of a sum of sixty naira million before guaranteeing the freedom of their victims.
A Local Government Area official, an LGA official, among others, was taken from Yar Tsakuwa in the Rabah area of Sokoto province, where armed men reportedly stormed the area at around 12 midnight until 3am.
According to a news report, the kidnappers had already contacted the families of the deceased and demanded that they return the money within the stipulated time.
An eyewitness, Abdullah, who lives in the area where the incident took place, said that while the families were trying to negotiate a release fee due to the high cost of N60 million noise, he said the kidnappers simply hung up.
However, an eyewitness explained that it would be extremely difficult for them to come up with such a large sum of money, adding that families were struggling to support themselves.
