Amazon threatens to restrict UK customers choice in the future
The latest news arising from London Amazon, reviews a disturbing issue about Amazon's next move. Which is believed to take effect from early next year.
The news has it that, "Amazon is reviewing its plans to stop accepting payments issued via visa credit cards in the UK, which could begin from next year"
The e-commerce company has already sent emails to some of its customers that
"Beginning from January 19 onward. The company will no longer accept Visa credit cards issued in Britain...due to high fees charged by the payment processor"
Earlier this year, Visa was seen to hike the inter charges fees of merchants for processing digital transactions in the UK. Which was a result of the company's exit from the European Union.
This also affected a similar development for MasterCard, which later increased its fees.
Amazon, however, promised that their customers could still use the debit cards including those issued by Visa. Alongside non-visa credit cards like MasterCard and American Express.
As reported by Bloomberg, users are encouraged to update their default payment method ahead of these new changes
Visa said that it was
"Very disappointed that Amazon is threatening to restrict customer choice in the future"
And that;
"UK shoppers can use their Visa debit and credit cards at Amazon UK today and throughout the holiday season"
As reported by a visa spokesperson.
"We have a long-standing relationship with Amazon and we continue to work towards a resolution, so our cardholders can use their preferred visa credit cards at Amazon UK, without Amazon imposed restrictions. Come January 2022"
Amazon replied to this comment by Visa for its high card charges,
