Keyamo while defending the budget in Abuja organized by the Senate Committee on Human Resources and Employment of Ministers, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) expressed delays in banking problems and promised that the Department would ensure that funds were disbursed before the end of December.
"The reason we are pushing for some banks is because of the audit, but the department has opened a system for beneficiaries to use any bank in their area," he said.
The program was launched in October 2019, following the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari, and is run by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).
It aims to address the problem of unemployment across the country, especially in rural areas, thus making unemployed youth useful to themselves and the community.
Under the scheme, beneficiaries will be paid N20,000 a month for three months.
