Nigerian Federal Government is yet to release N7.3 billion from the 774, 000 Special Public Works Program

The Minister of Labor and Employment, Festus Keyamo, said the coalition government would still disburse N7.3 billion to the remaining beneficiaries of the government's 774,000 Special Services Program. 

 Keyamo while defending the budget in Abuja organized by the Senate Committee on Human Resources and Employment of Ministers, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) expressed delays in banking problems and promised that the Department would ensure that funds were disbursed before the end of December.

 "The reason we are pushing for some banks is because of the audit, but the department has opened a system for beneficiaries to use any bank in their area," he said. 

 The program was launched in October 2019, following the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari, and is run by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE). 

 It aims to address the problem of unemployment across the country, especially in rural areas, thus making unemployed youth useful to themselves and the community. 

 Under the scheme, beneficiaries will be paid N20,000 a month for three months.
