Amazon plans to hire another 125,000 employees, paying them an average of $18 per hour

Amazon will hire an additional 125,000 warehouse and delivery workers in the U.S. The company will increase its average starting wage to $18, which is more than its minimum wage of $15.

Amazon said it would offer bonuses of $3,000 in some unspecified areas while specific roles will have wages of $22.50 an hour.

The company has opened over 250 logistics facilities this year and will open an extra 100 in September alone. It has over 930 facilities in the U.S.

Earlier this month, CEO Andy Jassy said the company would hire 55,000 people globally for corporate and technology positions. Amazon (950,000 workers) is the second-largest private employer in the U.S. behind Walmart (1.6 million).
