Tragedy struck in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, as Deputy Commissioner of Police Gbolahan Oyedemi reportedly took his own life in his private residence. Oyedemi, who served with the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Alagbon, Lagos State, was found dead on Monday.
According to reports by The PUNCH, Oyedemi previously served as the Aide de Camp to the late former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala during his brief tenure as the de facto governor in 2006.
Sources close to the family revealed that Oyedemi, who typically visited his hometown for Easter celebrations, instructed his aides to spend the holiday with their families elsewhere. This decision raised concerns among those close to him.
A family source lamented the shocking turn of events, stating, "Yes, he committed suicide. His body was found hanging in his house yesterday (Monday). He stays alone, and he normally comes home for Easter celebrations."
Despite efforts to reach the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, for comment, all attempts were unsuccessful as his mobile number was unreachable.
Confirming Oyedemi's death, the Police Public Relations Officer of FCID Alagbon, DSP Eguaoje Funmilayo, expressed that the circumstances surrounding his demise remain unclear. She emphasized the need for a thorough investigation before drawing conclusions about the cause of death.
